Black Eyed Peas star Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie is set to receive the Woman of the Year Award at the 2010 Billboard Women in Music Event. The wife of "Transformers" star Josh Duhamel will accept the honor on December 2 in a ceremony which will be held in New York.
Of the honor, Fergie said as quoted by Billboard, "I am humbled and excited to accept the Billboard Woman of the Year Award. Being honored by Billboard is a great career achievement." The event comes two days after Black Eyed Peas' new album "The Beginning" hits the U.S. stores.
Billboard's annual Women in Music event celebrates the most powerful and talented women in the music business. Fergie, who lends her voice for forthcoming movie "Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard", will join past honorees which include Beyonce Knowles, Ciara and country music veteran Reba McEntire.
Of the "Big Girls Don't Cry" hitmaker herself, Billboard's editorial director Bill Werde said, "Fergie took the music industry by storm the moment she came onto the scene, and we're thrilled to celebrate her career achievements and incredible successes over the past year by honoring her with the Billboard Woman of the Year Award."
Werde went on, "Fergie is a unique artist with great business savvy, style and an unbelievable dedication to philanthropic efforts, making her an inspiration to aspiring female artists everywhere."
