Bono Kicked off World AIDS Day in Australia on Wednesday
Bono

kicked off World AIDS Day in Australia on Wednesday, December 1 by calling on people to demand their country's government officials provide more financial help to fight the disease during the global recession.

The humanitarian rocker is committed to raising awareness of the disease and set up the ONE campaign to help fight the AIDS epidemic and combat global poverty. He headed Down Under to support World AIDS Day and during a ceremony in Sydney, urged government chiefs across the world to invest more cash into the cause.

Bono tells Reuters, "Times are hard in the Western world. (Health agencies are) fighting hard for funding. In recessionary times, people have to tell their politicians this is important to them. Some people think that the pandemic is on its way out and it's job done It is really not so."

The rocker then joined Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard to light up Sydney Opera House and Harbor Bridge in red to support the awareness day. Bono has been in Australia since last week and praised leaders over the weekend for pledging to spend 0.5 per cent of the country's gross national income on foreign aid.

Michael Jackson's Father Joe Has Refiled A Wrongful Death Lawsuit in California

Michael Jackson's Father Joe Has Refiled A Wrongful Death Lawsuit in California
Joe Jackson

's father Joe has refiled a wrongful death lawsuit in California after a federal judge insisted the case needed to be heard in a state court. Joe Jackson launched legal action against the star's personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray in a federal court in August, accusing him of administering a fatal dose of anesthetic Propofol, which led to Michael's death in June 2009.

Jackson alleges he was being supported by the "Thriller" hitmaker at the time of his passing - a claim which gives him the necessary legal standing to pursue a wrongful death suit. U.S. District Judge John F. Walter ruled in November that some of the legal issues needed to be handled in a state court - and Jackson's lawyer refiled the documents at Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, November 30, according to TMZ.com.

The lawsuit has also been amended to include Applied Pharmacy Services in Las Vegas, a company which allegedly sold Propofol to Murray. Joe Jackson is said to be seeking damages between $10 million and $500 million in the suit for emotional distress, loss of support and "loss of comfort, aid, society and companionship".

Dr. Murray, who has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the star's death, is set to go on trial in January 2011.

Demi Lovato

appears in a video message, looking happy and cheerful. The Disney star who is currently in rehab for "physical and emotional issues" said, "Just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving. I'm very, very thankful for all of you and I appreciate all the support you guys give me."

Contrary to swirling rumor, the viral video was not sent by Demi from her rehab facility. A source close to the "" star clarified the report, saying it was actually recorded prior to the holiday season and her entry into the treatment.

Thus, any claim suggesting Demi has come out of her seclusion is false. She still stays in rehab even during Thanksgiving. "She remains committed first and foremost to her treatment. Demi has made tremendous progress to date, but understands that she has more work to do. (Her parents will) be there to celebrate Thanksgiving with her," her rep said earlier this month.
